Whatever Happened to Eorzea?

Back during E3 2009, even before Final Fantasy XIII had hit shelves, the Sony keynote was hit by a surprising re-entry from Sony head, Jack Tretton who had left the stage after closing the keynote. Tretton continued to talk about the work of Square Enix and formally announced FFXIV to be released in the same year as XIII without mentioning the fact the title was an MMO; the crowd had good reason to be shocked.

Final Fantasy XIV was released close to a year ago in the same, rugged form us beta testers had the trouble of playing with, this led the game to receive a lot of negative reception and, after Square Enix announced a multitude of plans for the game, it subsequently fell off the face of the gaming news world.

So what ever happened to Eorzea?

Foreign Land of Yesteryear

Today must have been the only day within recent memory where I have not played a proper game, aside from a match or two of Starcraft, of course.20110824-224758.jpg

Well actually that still isn’t true, today I had a slight run-in with games that time forgot, or just one of them. I was being thrown a list of games that I had never heard of with me being stuck wondering why I had no recollection of the titles being thrown at me. The reason behind this was the fact that they were all DOS games, I grew up as an exclusive console gamer and only received access to a PC by the time Windows 98 had hit so my knowledge of these odd little characters and screenshots caught me completely off guard.
